As shown in this slide, the discrete solution requires a large mounting area, even if only the actual MOSFETs are considered. If users include current limit circuitry or over temperature detection with discrete devices, even more mounting area is required. In addition, the two MOSFETs on the high side of the discrete solution must include the high-side drive circuitry. As a better alternative, the STK681-332 solution requires less space and is much easier to design.
