In summary, the STK681 hybrid ICs (HIC) for driving brush type DC motors have a high output current when compared to many of the competitors’ products. While similar current designs can be developed with discrete solutions, onsemi recommends the HIC devices due to the much smaller board layout. The STK681-300, 310 and 320 have current sensing resistors built in. The STK681-332 and 352 include short to ground and short to supply protection built in. Finally, onsemi provides evaluation boards for development of this product.
