To stop the forward rotation, you switch from the condition of F1 and F4 ON to F3 and F4ON. This clamps the voltage on the motor to zero as shown in the circuit at the left side. At this moment, brake current flows in the reverse direction of FORWARD as shown by the arrow, and the motor stops rotating. This brake current does not flow into ground or from Vcc. After the motor halts, users may turn on F2 and F3 to drive in the REVERSE direction.
