This is a circuit diagram of evaluation board of STK681-300, 310 and 320. The designer can change the current limit value at R3. Without R3, output current is limited to Iomax. It can be limited to a value below Iomax by installing R3, and lowering the R3 value will decrease the current limit. For example, Iomax of the STK681-310 is 4.2 A, resulting from 0.42 V that is generated from the 5 V applied at Vcc2 by way of an internal resistance voltage divider of 82 k and 7.5 k ohms. An external resistor R3 of 7.5 k ohms placed between pins 2 and 18, is connected internally in parallel with the internal 7.5 k resistor. This will then limit to the current to 2.1 A, which is half of the original 4.2 A.
