Portable Medical Solutions Slide 19

Texas Instruments was the first to introduce a Continua-certified medical USB platform. This means that this platform has gone through some rigorous testing by the Continua test lab and has passed. This gives medical equipment manufacturers a confidence that as they design the TI MSP430 into their devices, the devices will be compliant. This platform is actually based on the MSP430 F552x family, and it uses software stacks from one of TI’s third-party partners, S3. These stacks implement the USB PHDC device class, and also implement the IEEE transport layers as shown in the slide, the 11073-20601, along with the 11073-104xx. Having this solution will allow the MSP430 to be the MCU of choice for manufacturers wanting to incorporate USB communication to their devices, and to accelerate their time to market.
