Some of the applications that the PaLFI enables are shown in this slide. These include, for example, a smart pill that a person ingests to monitor the acid pH in the GI tract, and the base station. As the reader/writer is brought near the smart pill, it sends the data over to the base station. Developers now have the capability of configuring implantable devices or getting information from implanted devices from inside the body, including hearing aids, creating many different applications and innovations that this technology can enable.
