This slide shows the turn off sequence of the SSR. First, current is removed from the IRED. However, the blocking diodes prevent the charge from leaving the gates of the FETs. Then, as voltage from the photovoltaic array is reduced across the blocking diodes, it reaches a level that triggers a thyristor which causes the charge to be quickly removed from the gates of the FETs.
