A side-by-side comparison between Panduit VeriSafe and some similar products offered by another manufacturer is shown on this slide. The first major differentiator for Panduit is that VeriSafe is not just a voltage indicator. It is also a tester that will allow users to actively confirm de-energization of a panel. Voltage indicators in columns 1 and 2 only indicate whether or not voltage is present on the system. There is no active test to verify absence of voltage when the indicator lights are off. In a real-world situation, lights on an indicator device could be off due to hardware failure, e.g. device malfunction or LED burn-out or improper installation, etc., even if the voltage is still present. The competitive product also does not perform test-the-tester verification as VeriSafe does. It is also occasionally possible to see a product such as the one shown in column 3. This product will allow the user to test for voltage by adding a voltage portal to an indicator product. This is an improvement over the simple voltage indicator. However, it consumes a large footprint, requires an additional voltage tester to complete the testing (more cost, more complexity), and still has the issue of not being able to verify the installation of the indicator or the portal. In terms of certification, none of the voltage indicators (column 1 to 3) meet the requirements of UL 1436 and cannot be used to comply with NFPA 70E.
