DiffAmpCalc Overview Slide 11

The resulting node voltages are shown on the schematics. On the oscilloscope waveform displays the colors match the node colors on the schematics. Diff-amp input and output waveforms indicate clipping levels, a useful feature when evaluating the available headroom. Power dissipation is broken down to quiescent and dynamic powers. This is helpful information as the peak currents can be used to properly size power supplies and PCB traces. Signal clipping is indicated by a warning message. Input clipping occurs internal to the diff-amp. When inputs are clipped the output waveforms will be clipped and the diff-amp input waveforms can appear distorted. Therefore it is necessary to fix input clipping before attempting to fix output clipping. Signal clipping can distort waveforms. In severe cases of clipping there may not be any AC signal component. Signal clipping can be fixed manually or automatically. If the user has problems recovering from clipped or distorted signals they can click the AutoAlign button and watch the repair process.
