LTC2983-Slide8

Half the challenge of designing a high accuracy temperature measurement system is converting voltage measurements back into temperature measurements; this process is called linearization. The temperature response of each sensor is governed by different equations and lookup tables, which must normally be solved or built into an application’s microprocessor or ASIC. The LTC2983 eliminates this requirement by storing all of the coefficients and equations of standard sensors in ROM, or allowing users to use and define their own custom sensors in RAM. Furthermore, only a few high-level settings in ROM need to be configured either directly through the SPI interface or through the use of GUI software. In any case, coding is drastically minimized.
