The LMP90100 includes a multichannel, low-power, 24-bit sigma delta ADC. The input multiplexer (MUX) is fully configurable. It supports differential inputs, single-ended inputs or any combination. For example, the LMP90100 can interface with 2,3 or 4 wire RTDs. The LMP90100 includes true continuous background calibration that effectively eliminates gain and offset error over time and temperature without disturbing the measurement signal. Competitive approaches inject a signal into the signal path that can show up as noise or require the part to be taken offline to provide correction. As mentioned, TI's approach is a true background continuous calibration. It’s done in the background without creating additional noise in the signal path. Sensor diagnostic monitoring is also done in the background without disturbing the measurement signal. Diagnostics also provide an alarm for sensor open, shorts and out-of-range conditions. The LMP90100 is fully programmable and can be optimized for power and performance. It includes two matched programmable current sources, 50 to 60 Hz line rejection and is compatible with the WEBENCH Sensor AFE Designer and the development platform.
