beam angle
Thirdly is how beam angles define if the customer wants to illuminate a large field of view or rather focus on objects far away. Depending on how far the objects are that the customer wants to illuminate and the system requirements, one might want to have an LED with integrated optics to ensure a tight or wide field of view. A tight field of view makes far objects within the small field of view brighter, while a wide angle will illuminate more objects closer to the LED. The largest selection is offered by the OSLON Black. The OSLUX SFH4780S has only 10° with its unique reflector design. The SYNIOS has no optics, and therefore allows the customer to place their own optics very close to the chip, making compact designs possible. There are off-the-shelf lenses from many vendors for all of ams OSRAM's IR products to fulfill almost any common field of view requirement.
