NOR Flash is an essential component for all embedded systems for code storage and this is where the advantage of the HYPERBUS™ interface makes itself more prominent. Consider a legacy solution of a DRAM memory and a NOR Flash memory that requires two separate buses and 41-pins. Here, a combination of HYPERRAM™ + HYPERFLASH™ enables a highly efficient solution utilizing just one HYPERBUS interface and 13-pins. The reduction in interface pins enables reduction of MCU footprint. Since lesser pins mean lesser signal routing and hence fewer PCB layers to implement the solution thereby reducing overall bill of materials. Hence a HYPERBUS-based solution simplifies design and enables faster prototyping. Infineon offers both HYPERRAM and HYPERFLASH products.
