Würth Elektronik also provides a list of necessary tools for the press process of the Power Elements in addition to the correct design of the land pattern on the PCB. The needed tools for an optimal press process are a base template, the press stamp and the press machine. The base template gives the PCB a plane base and has pre-milled wholes for the pins of the Power Elements to protrude through. As material for the base, several materials can be used, e.g. hard wood, plastics and metal are an option. A press stamp is a plain rest of the press machine on the top of the Power Element to ensure the press force is distributed equally on the component. Possible materials for the stamp are iron, brass or other metals. Finally, the Power Elements can be inserted with nearly any available press type; fully automatic, pneumatic and manual presses. It is important that the press-in force is set correctly.
