Signal Switch Solutions Slide 17

In summary, all TI signal switches have specific applications. The purposes of a switch is to turn on or off a signal, to source a signal from a single source to multiple destinations, or from multiple sources to a single destination. TI’s signal switch product family consists of analog, digital, and specialty switches, providing high performance with low power consumption for multiple types of applications. Available in a wide range of voltages, TI’s analog switches operate from 0.8 V to 12 V. They feature reduced signal distortion and insertion loss because of their low resistance and low input capacitance. A wide configurations are offered in the analog switch portfolio, including single pole-single throw, single pole-double throw, single pole-triple throw, and single pole-quad throw. Also, various channel counts ranging from one to twelve channels are available. µUSB switches perform impedance based accessory detection. In addition, these devices have a switch matrix that determines what types of accessories will be supported over the µUSB port. Analog video signals require analog switches with high bandwidth of approximately 1.3 GHz to ensure signal integrity of video signal lines. TI’s analog video switches have integrated level shifters and buffers, therefore requiring none externally. Digital video interfaces require specialized switches to properly route the signals with minimum degradation. The TI digital video switches can be used to support applications such as an external display port, an external HDMI connector, or a docking station. With high bandwidth and low capacitance ensuring good signal integrity, LAN switches properly route signals to a LAN port in a laptop or to a LAN port in a docking station.
