Soft Termination MLCC Slide 4

Of all crack types, bending cracks are the most common. Bending cracks occur when the PCB is excessively bent and the resulting deflection causes stress on the component. The signature for this type of crack starts at the bottom of the component traveling 45° outward toward the end termination. If the crack crosses opposing internal electrodes, the capacitor will fail as an electrical short.
