These LEDs provide about 4.5 times higher luminous intensity than conventional products without a lens, allowing use as a high-brightness product, or, if the same luminous intensity is desired, they can be operated with less current. Despite utilizing a lens, the directionality is not as narrow as standard LED lamps, so even when the distance to the illuminated surface is close, there is no uneven distribution, such as spotlighting. As a result, even products that typically use LED lamps can adopt these surface-mount LEDs.
