The Himalaya Power Modules help designers meet their common design challenges. One major advantage of the family is its efficiency. Depending on the input voltage, output voltage, and output current, the module can exceed 90% efficiency leading to a lower temperature rise. This efficiency is achieved through synchronous rectification and reduces the amount of thermal management needed for the design that allows it to be more compact. Further solution size reduction is achieved by integrating the compensation components, power FETS, and external components which reduce the complexity of the design and help improve the time to market. Having a wide operating voltage range also helps the robustness of the design by improving the tolerance of wide, unpredictable voltage transients. The parts included in the family are two products that can support input voltage ranges of up to 42V, two that go up to 60V, and one that goes up to 76V. These products offer a range of output currents of up to 3A and come in different packages tailored for their thermal requirements, while minimizing the space required in the system. All of these parts include a power good output and programmable soft start, and enable undervoltage lockout thresholds. The MAXM15462 is a fixed frequency device, whereas the other four products offer adjustable frequency control. All of the products are internally compensated and are stable with a wide range of output capacitance.
