SAM4L Cortex-M4 Low Power Microcontroller Slide 14
The SAM4L features many high-speed communication interfaces to complement the low-power features discussed so far. Many low-power applications require fast I2C communication. The TWI controller found on the SAM4L is I2C compliant and offers many interfaces. Up to two slaves and four masters are supported on the SAM4L with 100k, 400k, 1M and 3.4M bit/s transfer speed. Standard and extended addressing modes are supported, with SMBus compliance and hardware package error support as well. The USB found on the SAM4L embeds on-chip transceivers. The SAM4L LC series features an embedded host and device, while the LS series feature just the device. The USB is Full Speed supporting 12M bit/s transfer rate. The USB supports up to eight end points and all the data buffers are stored in RAM with ping-pong mode support. This gives lower power consumption and greater throughput. The USB module found on the SAM4L is USB certified to simplify end application certification. There are also analog peripherals found on the SAM4L; with a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) that gives 350 ksps (kilo samples per second). It also features programmable gain as well as sample and hold. The digital-to-analog converer (DAC) that is integrated with the DMA system and Peripheral Event system and delivers up to 500 ksps.
