Solid State Drive memory solutions are utilized in many end applications. Specific market segments have different requirements of the individual components within their end products. There is not any one SSD that fits the needs of all applications and segments. Various types of SSD’s are built with specific feature sets and attributes that are tailored to perform best within these individual market segments. There are three primary market segments for Solid State Drives (SSD’s). The first of these is consumer applications where the end products are largely driven by cost. This means the key requirement of the SSD is the lowest cost possible. The next market segment is enterprise applications, in which end products require high speed SSD’s and are also cost conscious. SSD’s in this segment are often based on leading edge technology that utilizes innovation and continual improvements to the SSD’s speed and provide continual cost reductions. Lastly, the industrial applications market, end products in this segment require their SSD’s to have longevity, robustness and high quality. New qualifications or re-qualifications in industrial applications are time consuming and expensive. This means a Solid State Drive with the highest reliability, longest lifetime, greatest quality combined with robustness, greatly reduces system down time, unexpected failures, and eliminates the costs associated with them.
