Image of Octavo Systems Overview of the OSD32MP1 System-in-Package Family - OSD32MP1 Benefits

This product family from Octavo Systems is the OSD32MP1 which is based on the STM32MP1 family of processors from ST Microelectronics. The SiP integrates the SoC, a PMIC, DDR, EEPROM, and passives. All in all over 120 components are integrated into a single 18mm by 18mm BGA package. At the center of this SiP is the STM32MP1 SoC which comes with up to 2 Cortex®-A7 cores and can run at 800MHz and an M4 core that can run at 209MHz. Thanks to the OSD32MP15x system integration, the SiP provides designers a full Linux system which is 64% smaller than using an equivalent design completed with discrete devices. This saves cost on printed circuit boards and enables applications to fit into smaller form factors. In addition, thanks to the ease of laying out an optimized, wide-pitch BGA package, designers will no longer have to contend with complex DDR layout, complicated power sequencing, or EMI: the SiP has done all of the work for them. This allows developers to get to market faster and focus design time on adding new, differentiating features to products. Finally, using the OSD32MP1 SiP in applications simplifies the supply chain. There is no need to source DDR, PMIC or passives, which can be challenging, especially in small quantities. Over 100 components are reduced to only one on a bill-of-materials or BOM.
