Image of Murata Chip Ferrite Beads - Ceramic Materials

Ferrites are a special kind of ceramic material which is formulated to have magnetic properties, rather than the more familiar “dielectric” properties commonly used in ceramic capacitors. Oxides of iron, cobalt, nickel, and manganese are among the raw materials used to create “ferrite” formulations for use in EMI suppression products, conveniently supplied in surface-mount format in the great majority of cases. Market and application requirements, higher operating speeds, and emerging interface standards have driven the development of versatile magnetic ceramic formulations, as well as ferrite bead designs to support a growing variety of EMI suppression and compliance challenges.
