The EPCOS Brand ERU Choke series 16 and 19 round out the family of helically wound high current chokes in this platform. They offer some unique features which the designer will expand on in the next slide. The 16 and 19 share common features to all the ERU series. The flat wire winding technique provides extremely low resistance, this combined with customized high saturation core materials provide a range of high inductance values and tight tolerances. Low eddy current losses result in low switching losses and are suitable for high frequency and high ripple current applications with very high current ratings. The mechanical designs of all ERU chokes have very good magnetic shielding, very low profile and extremely small footprint. The large contact area translates out to low thermal resistance and the surface mount design is suitable for pick and place processing. All this is possible due to the self-leaded construction and under-body termination. All products are RoHS compatible.
